All-Star Mode

After unlocking every secret character (see Hidden Characters), All-Star mode will be available in the 1 Player menu. In All-Star mode, you must defeat all 25 characters using a single life. If you get KOed even once, it's game over. Your next opponent is visible in the background photo between battles. Also in the background, are the trophies of the characters that you've already eliminated.

Luckily, you have 3 heart containers that you can pick up after any battle. Use the heart containers wisely though, as you don't want to waste your powerups too early. Your damage meter is extremely important, so be sure that you're the one dishing out the attacks instead of receiving them. It's a good strategy to only pick up one of those heart containers when you've taken a very high amount of damage. Be warned though, that the higher your damage is, the easier it is for you to be KOed. You'll have 24 characters to fight through before you face Mr. Game & Watch.

The 25 characters that you battle are spread out over 13 matches. In the first four matches, you'll battle only a single opponent. In the next four, you'll have to face two foes at a time. The four matches following that feature 3 opponents in each battle. The 13th battle puts you against a total of 25 Mr. Game & Watch characters.

The 12 matches before Mr. Game & Watch feature random characters in various arenas. The character order is set at the beginning, so you can see which characters you fight, and in which order they appear, between each battle. Each character you face in All-star mode is wearing different threads than usual.

Matches 1 to 4: One foe at a time is the way the first four matches are set up. Don't let yourself take much damage in the first few fights, otherwise the later battles could be a problem.

Matches 5 to 8: Two on one is the situation here. Lucky you - you're the one fighting by yourself. Dish out attacks, and keep an eye on your opponents' damage meters. When one of them is at a high damage, smash them out of the arena.

Matches 9 to 12: Now you have three computer opponents to deal with. If possible, Try to keep all your foes on one side, so you can't be attacked from behind. By glancing at your opponents' damage meters, you can tell when one of them is ready to be KOed.

Match 13: The final battle always takes place in Flat Zone, against 25 Mr. Game & Watch characters. It's best to be a speed demon, and clear the stage as quick as possible. It's extremely easy to get thrown out of the sides of the arena, so don't leave yourself vulnerable.

You earn a new trophy for every character that you use to complete All-Star mode. These character trophies are unique compared to the ones earned in the Classic and Adventure modes. For Bowser's trophy you only see his eyes peeking out of his spiked shell, while Fox McCloud's trophy show's him on his head. View listing of all Trophies.
