Graphics: The characters and items in this game feature incredible detail. Everything from the characters' faces to the item textures. Most of the in-game action takes place from a distance, so many of these sweet samples of eye candy aren't always shown off. The backgrounds of the battle arenas are alive with creatures and incredible scenery.

Sound: Many familiar Nintendo tunes, including ones from Zelda, StarFox, and Mario adventures. The sound effects are cool, but nothing to really blow you away.

Replay Value: This game is fun as a multiplayer game, and also has strong value as a single player game. There are just so many different modes to choose from, each of which test your different skills and abilities. An insane amount of trophies to collect, plus hidden characters and stages will keep players hooked.

Controls: The game is easy to pick up, and the character moves are simple to pull off. Since the same button sequences are used for all characters, it's not hard to learn moves for each of the different combatants.

Game Play: In addition to being a great multiplayer bash, there are numerous one player modes to complete. There are also tons of hidden extras to unlock. The game offers a wide variety of game modes, with a wide selection of Nintendo characters.

Final Thoughts:
SSBM is definitely the must-have title for the Nintendo GameCube. Nintendo has done a great job making sure that it's a blast as both single player and multiplayer. Melee is a smash hit!

Overall Rating: 9.5 / 10
