What would a Detstar website be without a page dedicated to all the cool details and tidbits found in a game? In addition to the actual gameplay, many games have all kinds of miscellaneous items that often go unnoticed. Below are all the interesting things that have been found so far in Super Smash Bros Melee.

If you've found something in the game that should be posted here, feel free to send it in. E-mail your discoveries to DetErest@detstar.com. Be sure to include your name if you would like to receive credit for your submission.

Game & Snack
Here's a neat little hidden bit about Mr. Game & Watch in All-Star mode. Between battles, you walk through a short green field where you have the chance to grab heart containers to improve your health. But if you perform a forward+B attack with Mr. Game & Watch and get lucky number 7, a piece of healing food will appear. Don't get carried away though, because if you get a 1 instead of a 7, Game & Watch will earn about 12% damage.

Property of Marth
A tiny little detail that was discovered on Marth inside the trophy gallery. If you zoom in and take a closer look at his sheath, you can see a circle with profile of Marth's face. Such a tiny little detail that it was sure to go unnoticed, but a Detstar visitor managed to spot it.

Evil Emblems?
When I was inspecting the Marth trophy to find the face mentioned above, I cam across some strange designs on his back. The lower ones shown here are just innocent swirls, but there appear to be two ghastly faces above. Both have angry and slanted eyes, with mouths bearing teeth.

Project Dolphin...
Something that's now blatantly obvious for me went unnoticed for a very long time. I'm usually concentrating on where my opponents are, and watching for safe places to land. But all over the course, are these neat little dolphin graphics on pillars.

Kill the Cannons
This is something that's been reported by countless Melee fans, but somehow or another, it never actually made it onto an Interesting Stuff update... On the Great Fox level, the giant mounted cannons on the front of the ship will occasionally fire beams of lasers. If you're unlucky enough to be in the vicinity, you can get blasted right out of the arena. But if you drop down and land on the guns when they're not firing, it's possible to destroy them with downward attacks. Shown in the right screenshot, is the explosion caused as Falco delivers the final blow to silence the guns.

The Evil Eye...
Another observation from the trophy gallery, this one involving the evil Ganondorf. When you're inside the trophy gallery and have selected a trophy for close-in viewing, you can press Start to change the background color. With the golden background, Ganon's eyes appear normal. But with the black background that follows, his eyes will glow in the dark.

Purple Power
The eyes in the above screenshots reminded me of this other detail that was also sent to my mailbox... Normally when Mewtwo is onscreen, his eyes will be purple. But immediately after he gets attacked, his eyes will be yellow for a split second.

Eat Your Veggies...
One thing I didn't notice, were the different faces on Peach's vegetable attack. It turns out that several different faces will randomly appear, each one dishing out a different amount of damage. The vegetables don't usually cause major damage to an enemy. For example, the smiley face caused 7% damage in my test. The "big empty eyes" with the small mouth scored 8% while this angry face earned 12% damage.

I received an e-mail about a special vegetable that Peach can pull randomly, which could score massive damage on an enemy. Tried several matches, without getting this deadly vegetable. Then during a match, I pulled one with an incredibly bizarre face with stitches (left screenshot). I just knew this one had to be the special one. So I tossed it at an opponent, and they received a nasty 36% damage.

There are many different random vegetable faces. Shown here, are screenshots of two angry faces. I'm not sure how many there are total, but there are six of them featured here, and there could be a few more.

Baby Face
Just an odd appearance of Baby Mario from the trophy gallery. If you zoom in from behind his head, his face will look entirely different. The eyes and eyebrows are there, but the nose can look like a giant open mouth which looks kind a weird.

Spelling Nistake?
Several people have reported seeing typos on the scoreboard of Pokemon Stadium, with Mario's name being spelled with an 'N'. When Mewtwo is chose, the 'M' in his name also looks like an 'N', or maybe even an 'H'. Either way, it doesn't appear to be an error, and seems to just be the text style used for the character names here.
