What would a Detstar website be without a page dedicated to all the cool details and tidbits found in a game? In addition to the actual gameplay, many games have all kinds of miscellaneous items that often go unnoticed. Below are all the interesting things that have been found so far in Super Smash Bros Melee.

If you've found something in the game that should be posted here, feel free to send it in. E-mail your discoveries to DetErest@detstar.com. Be sure to include your name if you would like to receive credit for your submission.

Super Samus...
Here's something that many players have probably noticed, but it's a detail that I just noticed this afternoon - Which is kinda odd, because Samus is among my favorite characters. Whenever Samus jumps, there's a quick rocket flash from her jetpack. It only lasts for a split second, but it's two streams of blue.

Moon Men...
An observation from the background of the Great Bay arena. As the fight progresses, the evil moon can be seen getting closer and closer in the background. But before the giant satellite crashes into the earth, the giants can be seen catching it, and pushing it back into orbit.

Baseball Trophy...
In the Trophy Gallery, there's a small design on the baseball bat of Ness' red Smash trophy. If you zoom in, you can see a target etched into the wood, as well as the lettering of "NETT Sports". Originally, I thought it spelled "NESS Sports", but they really look more like "T's", and Ness' home is Onett.

Sleeping Statue...
Something that countless visitors have reported, but somehow or other never made it into an update... In the Brinstar arena, a Chozo Statue can be seen in the background. Every so often, it will rise up with the eyes glowing, and move around before settling down again.

Breaking Brinstar...
Another part of the Brinstar stage that hasn't been posted here, is the fact that you can slightly reshape the battlefield. On either side of the stage, there are platforms being weighted down by pink tentacles. You can sever the connection with a few good attacks, and the platforms will tild backwards to add a new twist to your match.

Primative Performance...
When Rareware released the original Donkey Kong Country on the Super NES, the modern-day rendering of Donkey Kong was born. Rareware gave him movement and actions for this game, and some of these same moves have been passed into the Smash Bros Series. Here, we see DK jumping and running, quite similar to his style in Smash Bros.

In the left screenshot, we see DK's ground slap, which of course is one of his Smash Bros special attacks. In the right screenshot, we see him using his powerful arms to toss a keg over his head. This barrel-throwing maneuver also lives on in Smash Bros.

Mushroom Kingdom Memories
These details aren't really hidden, but are nonetheless a neat little tribute to the original Super Smash Bros game. Det's a Nintendo veteran, and remembers when the NES was the hottest system on the market... Magical Beanstalks were always a neat thing to find, because they led to secret areas. Koopa Troopas and Goombas can also be seen wandering the background. And of course, the white and green mushroom flag at the end of every level.

American Baseball Regulations?
This could possibly be a slight difference in the game setup, if you set the Language option to Japanese instead of U.S. English. I'm not sure if it's just the camera angle or not, but the Homerun Contest in Stadium mode seems to have a slightly bigger surface than if the Language is set to English...
Still not positive on this one, but an English screenshot is on the left, and a Japanese screenshot is on the right.
Note the fact that there's less sky in the Japanese shot, and that the lines of paint appear to be a bit thicker.
